​We had a tour of this museum with a guide who really helped us realize the photos were of real people who had lives and feelings and were not just frozen in time. The gunslingers of the movies did not exist. The guns weigh 5 pounds. The portrait of Sam Houston does not look exactly like him, the artist made him look more handsome according to the standards of the time. There was a crooked governor in Texas who was banned from running for office again. So his wife ran and became governor. She fired all of the Texas rangers because they didn’t agree with her and hired new ones. There were so many fascinating stories in this museum.
