Poverty Point State Park, Louisiana
Poverty Point State Park in Louisiana is a great stop over point. As with all the parks I have stayed in in Louisiana, it was very well set up and the bathrooms/ laundry room was excellent. The trails I walked on were muddy, but the swamp and lake were very pretty. I must not have liked the photos from the swamp hike, none of them wound up in the album. Swamps are hard to photograph. There is a great boat ramp area and a lovely looking special event center. The campsites were nice and big. According to the website, the cabins are over the lake, but I didn't walk to the cabins. It would have been a safe biking park, but we didn't unload the bikes. I enjoyed this park as a stopover park, unless you want to boat or fish, a night at a time is long enough. I know we will be back to this park when we travel through Louisiana.
