Cagle Recreation Area, TX

Cagle recreation area is in the Sam Houston National Forest just south of Huntsville, TX. It is an easy drive from us and we have stayed there twice and will be happy to stay again. There is one trail that goes by the campground loops but there is another trail by the boat ramp area that connects to a longer trail system. Lake Cagle is absolutely gorgeous and has a totally different feel from Lake Livingston.  It has beautiful sunsets, but is the wrong direction to watch the sunrise over the lake. There are a lot of people fishing and boating from here and it is a good place to use as a base camp for hiking the Lone Star trail system.
