Santa Rosa Lake State Park is north of I40 in eastern New Mexico. We stayed here in late October 2021. It was windy. This park is on a mountain above a river and lake. To get to the campground you drive across a dam. There was a lot of waterfowl on the lake and there are a lot of trails. This is a beautiful place and has a neat mix of green plants, cactus, rocks and water. The campground overlooks the lake and we had a beautiful view. It was windy though, yes, I said that twice. I enjoyed hiking down to the lake. From our campsite it took me about 20 minutes to get to the shoreline. There is a lower loop closer to the loop with no electric hook ups. I enjoyed this park. It is a great place to stay and hike and the town looked interesting also.
