San Angelo State Park is between I10 and I20 southwest of Ft. Worth. We stayed here in early November 2021. We stayed in the North Concho loop which is several miles from the main part of the state park. We will have to go back to stay at the other side another time. The North Concho loop is behind a locked gate only campers can get through. It was like staying in a park all alone. There were only 3 other campers and they were quite a way away from us. I did meet a man who built his own tiny home on wheels and had just started traveling in it and I also met 2 equestrian campers. The scenery is west Texas prairie. There is a lot of grass, grasshoppers, and twisted trees. It is a fascinating place to walk around if you can keep your dogs from eating too many grasshoppers. I did see deer but they were fast and nervous. There are hunting leases near the park. I would like to go back and see the main park and access the trails.
