Big Lagoon State Park, Florida
We stopped for a night at Big Lagoon State Park in the Florida panhandle on our way to Texas from Florida in March 2020. My mom had great memories of this park because she and my dad work camped and volunteered there for several months one winter after it was wiped out by a hurricane. It has since been hit by many more storms so keeping the infrastructure functioning is an ongoing job. They have done a good job. The sites are sloped but fully equipped. There is easy access to the trails from the campground. The trails are all sand. I did not walk to the access point for the bay, so we did not explore the entire park. I liked it though, and Florida skies never disappoint.
