Natchez State Park, MS
We stayed at Natchez State park in Mississippi early March 2021 on our way from Florida to Texas. It was my first Mississippi state park. The ranger station wasn't open, but we had online reservations so figured out where our site was on our own. The other campers were very nice, but we didn't see a camp host or ranger during our visit. The entry road GPS sent us on was very bad, but after talking to the other campers, we found the correct road out, which was much better. The park is, in fact, very near the Natchez Trace. The sites were beautifully wooded and there was a really neat dam with a spillway. I rode my bike to it down and up some significant hills. I really enjoyed the bike ride and watching the Canadian geese. The nature trail off the campground was a disappointment. It was washed out and not rebuilt. The woods were beautiful, I would have loved easier access to explore them. This seems to be a park with great campers, but few volunteers. I did enjoy our stay and will probably go back when we travel the Natchez Trace.
