Tannehill Ironworks State Park, Alabama
Tannehill Ironworks State Park is near Birmingham Alabama. This is a well developed and well used state park. It would be good to spend a week here, preferably in the partial hook up area if you have good tanks. The full hook up area is crowded and stays full. It is a good crowd with kids playing and people talking. The partial hookup area is more spread out and less crowded. The bathrooms are not close to the sites though. There is a craft area where artisans sell quilts, pottery, woven stuff, and more. There are many trails and good biking areas. There is a museum about iron production and the forges. We didn't wade in the river, but saw someone floating down it with their dog swimming. There is a train and a flea marked and a pioneer village. There is also an ice cream store. Yum. We did find a hurt squirrel and my niece guarded it until the ranger came to get it. He thought it had a chance to recover. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this park and would like to go back here.
