Rockhound State Park is just off I10 near Demming New Mexico. There are some long straight roads through cattle ranches before you get there. There is a nice trail, full of rock going up the mountain the campground is on. This is the first state park I have been to where you can collect rocks. There are geodes and other kinds of rock to find all over the mountain. There are also a lot of yucca and prickly pear. The views from the campsites over the valley are expansive and it is a great place to watch a cloudless sunset and peaceful sunrise. The entry station looked interesting but wasn't open. The park host was very helpful.
