We camped on the beach at Bolivar Flats on the Bolivar Peninsula on the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. We enjoyed camping on the beach and picking restaurants in Crystal Beach to eat at. For a tiny town there is a lot of selection. During the week the beach wasn't too crowded, but bring bug spray. We also rode the free ferry over to Galveston and back. Galveston had interesting people watching, but I took no photos. I preferred the less crowded Bolivar Peninsula and am looking forward to going back regularly in varied weather conditions and seasons. If you come with a camper, I recommend staying in an rv park and exploring with a vehicle. Don't just randomly try to drive your camper on the beach. We used the truck and slept in hammocks with stands on the beach. There was one entrance I wouldn't try with my truck, but there were other entrances regular cars could use. The beach conditions change frequently. You will need to get a $10 beach parking pass that is supposed to be good for a calendar year. I guess that is why mine is good til December.
I made another trip to Bolivar Peninsula. Discovered some new spots but returned to camp at Bolivar Flats again.
