Martin Dies state Park is on a reservoir and river just east of Woodville Texas. It has a lot of camping loops on both sides of the highway. The north side is farther from the water and more open with bigger sites and roads. I camped right by the lake on the south side. Those sites are rather buggy but there is a popular swimming area and lots of people were fishing. There are several boat ramps, fishing docks and 2 places to rent canoes and kayaks. There are a few trails, but the water is the focus of this park. I was here in June 2022. I'd like to go back and Kayak in the fall. I came here when I did to watch the lunar eclipse over the lake in the dark. There were a lot of stars visible. We had an armadillo visit in the night, and Tippy jumped off the boardwalk and went for a swim in the swamp before I could get him back to where he could get back on the boardwalk.
