Suwannee River State Park, FL
Suwannee River State Park was on mom's really want to go to parks. We got to stay here 3 nights on our February 2021 Florida trip. The campground is absolutely beautiful as was the drive to the park. The back in's to the sites are tight as the park was built before RVs got so big so if you have a long rig, choose your site carefully. It is routine for the rangers and park hosts to replace the site number poles. The park is well loved by it's rangers and volunteers and there are beautiful trails and a lovely day use picnic area right on the river. When we were there, there was a lot of upstream flooding so many of the trails were closed. The trees in this park were amazing. Exactly what you would expect from the song about the river. My favorite though, was the trail that went through the old graveyard and reading the inscriptions on the gravestones. I enjoyed imagining the lives of the people on the river when it was a river boat community. I also really enjoyed napping in the hammock, while trying to read and watching the trees.
