Silver Springs State Park, FL
I wanted to go to Silver Springs for decades. Actually we did go there when we were small and it was still privately owned. I remember the monkeys getting on the glass bottom boats and they had lots of flowers. It didn't disappoint. We were able to get 2 nights during our February 2021 Florida trip. I actually arranged the trip to find availability and am very glad I did. The springs and glass bottom boat tour was beautiful and the guide was knowledgeable. I am glad we took the tour. I hike about 10 miles of the trails and missed more I would have liked to hike. The town looked nice, but we didn't explore that. The campground is about 2 miles from the springs and gardens. You can hike it, but we drove it. We also had to move sites during our 2 night stay. Both were pull through sites and very level so moving wasn't a big deal. This campground is bikeable, but the trails are rough for an ebike, but great for a mountain bike. I really enjoyed my hikes and would have liked to spend more time here. Whenever you can get reservations, go. And sorry for the volume of photos. My favorite memory I didn't catch in a photo. While standing on a dock over the river on one of the hiking trails, I saw a cormorant swimming underwater. They are so graceful, and so fast. I really liked this park. It is in my top 10.
