Mayborn Museum Complex is well worth the admission price, especially if you have kids, but even for adults only. It is a combination of a natural history museum and history museum with a little bit of Baylor History and some art thrown it. There are hands on exhibits for the kids and an area outside by the Brazos River for picnicking and quite a few very old cottages that have been set up to make a town from the pioneer days. I enjoyed reading all the exhibits and watching all the kids from the field trips. The kids would have done better with guided tours, much of what the museum had passed them by.
I enjoyed many of the exhibits, but my favorite was a photography exhibit. The curators pulled out a selection of objects from storage and had an excellent photographer, Steve Scott take macro shots of them. The viewers are supposed to match the object to the photo. I took quick photos of the entire exhibit. I wish I had taken time to get better shots but I felt people were waiting form me to finish, even though no one was minding waiting. Here are all the photos. Have fun matching. An look up Steve Scott Photographer online. His stuff is excellent.
